Baptism

Baptisms

Baptism is joining the family of God, the Church. Your child is precious to you and precious to God. In the baptism service parents thank God for his gift of life, make a decision to start their child on a journey of faith and godparents promise help and support. The church also promises to welcome the child and to pray for the family.

Everyone is welcome to have their children baptised (otherwise known as ‘being christened’) in their parish church. If you live within the parish of Timperley, you are eligible to have a baptism at Christ Church or Holy Cross. However, if you don’t live within the parish, but have a link with the parish, you can still have a baptism at Christ Church or Holy Cross, if you seek permission from the parish where you live. Our parish boundary can be found HERE

For your child, being baptized at a Christening marks the start of a lifelong journey of faith as part of the local and worldwide Christian family, the Church.
